January 31, 2005 Built the beginnings of the site from the old Trade Association/Chleran Syndicate guild site. For starters, I threw up the overview, which is an out-of-character explanation of the site. Mainly, this was intended to be an in-character, although sometimes tongue-in-cheek (you'll understand when I dig up my old story about the creation of the Triddle) unofficial history and backstory of the Dransik/Ashen Empires world. Since the original vision of ED under TA, I've changed the concept somewhat. During discussion with a few friends in-game, we've talked about the possibility of reconciling conflicts betweend Dransik Classic and Ashen Empires. Understandably, the dev team may not consider this a high priority, but it's a fun bit of nostalgia for some of us. Currently, I'm working on the Mortal Races section, which covers the current and past races from the game(s), their lands, a bit about their culture, and their history. The biggest part of the history involves the Rune Wars - based on the timeline, there were at least two. Based on the old backstories involving Talazar and Arcus, I've chosen to assume there have been three (see the overview for explanation until the Rune Wars section gets some work) - the first fought by Arcus against Zorak, the second fought by Talazar against the Rune Warriors, and the third being the apocalyptic war in which the fallen knight Talazar led his armies accross the lands and destroyed much of the world as it was in Dransik Classic, leaving the drastically changed world we see in the game today. It's not easy, but I have a rough storyline that so far ties it together nicely, including recently-revealed changes like the removal of the Brimlock cities from their original locations. No doubt the Gonzo update will throw me a major loop and make me rewrite the whole thing, but hey, isn't that the fun of making a site like this? Eventually, I hope to have a geralized catalog of notable weapons, armors, artifacts, characters, locations, and creatures here, trying to tie them into a unified plot and explain the all important "why" things are the way they are. I plan to have fun along the way, but unlike TA's old field research pages, this isn't going to be a Douglas Adams-esque trip through the zany adventures we had getting killed by strange and wonderous creatures in distand and mysterious lands with our spawns set a half hour walk away.
